The unexpected way you can stop worrying
Do you worry all the time? Worried about being late. Worried about if you're in the right relationship. Worried about what you're going to wear. Worried about this, or that.
Here's an unexpected way that might just help you stop worrying. You're not going to believe it, but stick with me.
Try worrying more. Now, I'm not asking you to send yourself into a premature mid-life crisis over the train timetable.
You know when you have a song stuck in your head, and you have just a short snippet of the chorus stuck in your head. Playing over and over. It's not the whole song; just a very very short snippet and it gets really annoying.
What do you do to get the snippet out of your head? You listen to the whole song. You let it play out.
Some of us are ruminating and worrying about the same little piece of a scenario over and over again, without looking at the whole picture.
Like, you might be really worried about doing a speech at an upcoming event; and you're really worried that it's going to be a huge disaster. Ask yourself, "what would a successful speech look like?", "what is the underlying purpose of the speech?" "Why does it scare you?"
Do you know the answer? Maybe, maybe not.
Maybe if you knew the answers to that question, then that'd probably be kinda helpful.
Try journaling about everything you're worried about. Get it out of your system and write it down. Go through each worry and ask specific questions, with specific details and you might start to build a big picture, that'll help put your mind at ease.
