Where shall I start?
Well... in lockdown #1 of 2020, I embarked on a journey, a wellness journey - if you want a cliché label for it.
I focused on building self-love, being curious of my emotions and treating myself with kindness.
I was never the most confident, nor did I treat my body or mind with much respect. I lived for everyone else's approval and compared myself to almost every other living being.
The 'stay at home' order left me with more time on my hands and after refurbishing my bedroom, I was able to refurbish my mind - declutter, explore, repaint and even rebuild some areas.
Wellness is so much more than just physical health, exercise or nutrition. It is a full combination of physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
Everybody's journey to wellness looks different but mine was triggered by wanting to lose weight.
At the time, it was absolutely for the aesthetics - as a result of society's 'diet-culture' and expectations but I soon came to realise losing weight wouldn't fix all my problems. It was fixing my problems, that actually led me to lose weight.
So far, I have found self-love, confidence and let go of emotional baggage.
I have lost nearly 60lbs of body weight; fixing my relationship with food, fuelling my body properly and giving diet culture the middle finger.
Self-growth is an adventure: bumpy, twisty and possibly never-ending. I can't wait to share the highs, lows, discoveries and everything else with you.
